Ch.10/ Ask a doula Friday’s

My new way to introduce you to other birthworkers and perinatal professionals.

I absolutely love connecting with other birthworkers and perinatal specialists but what I love even more is connecting them with pregnant people! Your birth support system is crucial to having an empowering and healing perinatal journey.

So often, I hear from my doula clients that they’re looking for a childbirth education class or a lactation counselor but they feel overwhelmed by Google results. They want a trusted referral where they know they’ll be in good hands.

For my doula clients, it’s easy for them to send me a quick text to get that referral because I am way more tapped into the birth scene than they are. And for good reason! These practitioners are some of my close friends who I trust and admire.

But I feel like my reach could be bigger. That’s why I’m launching Ask a Doula Friday’s on Instagram Live. Every Friday at noon EST, I will be going Live on Instagram with another birthworker, doula, perinatal professional, and even some parents. This way, everyone can get a quick intro to someone who could help them build out their support system.

It takes a village – and that’s pretty difficult to do if your village consists of TikTok and Uber Eats. I love both of those things but they should not be your whole village!

Imagine how beautiful your perinatal journey would look like when it’s abundant with a doula, massage therapist, acupuncturist, chiropractor; the list goes on and on. You are worthy of this kind of self care and love. It’s not “treating yourself”. It’s taking care of yourself so you can nurture your baby and your body.

Cost is often prohibitive to a lot of people but many perinatal professionals offer sliding scale because we know that this work is sacred and should be accessible to everyone. Just reach out and ask. There’s no harm in asking.

Follow along on @doulashelby on Instagram every Friday at noon EST to be introduced to a birth professional. I can’t wait to see you there!
